Common defects of rubber ring and treatment methods

Abstract: The rubber ring in the production and use process may appear bubbles, cracks, abnormal hardness, size deviation, poor bonding and other defects. In view of these defects, corresponding treatment methods can be adopted to improve the quality and performance of rubber rings.

Rubber ring is an important part widely used in various industries and fields, its main role is sealing, shock absorption, protection and so on. However, in the process of production and use, the rubber ring may have some common defects, affecting its performance and life. This paper will analyze the common defects of rubber ring and put forward the corresponding treatment methods.

First, common defects of rubber rings

Step 1: Bubble

The bubble refers to the gas accumulation phenomenon in the rubber ring, which may be caused by the mixing of air in the rubber material during the production process, or the gas inside the rubber material can not be discharged in time during the vulcanization process. Air bubbles will lead to a reduction in the strength of the rubber ring, affecting its sealing performance.

2. Cracks

Cracks refer to cracks on the surface or inside the rubber ring, which may be caused by external forces in the production, storage or use of the rubber ring, or may be caused by the aging of the rubber ring. Cracks will affect the strength and sealing performance of the rubber ring.

3. Abnormal hardness

Abnormal hardness means that the hardness of the rubber ring is too high or too low. High hardness may lead to insufficient elasticity of the rubber ring and poor sealing performance; Too low hardness may lead to insufficient strength of the rubber ring, easy to damage.

Abnormal hardness means that the hardness of the rubber ring is too high or too low. High hardness may lead to  insufficient elasticity of the rubber ring and poor sealing performance;  Too low hardness may lead to insufficient strength of the rubber ring, easy to damage.

Size deviation refers to the difference between the actual size of the rubber ring and the design size. The size deviation may lead to leakage and loosening of the rubber ring during use.

5. Poor bonding

Poor bonding refers to the poor bonding effect between the rubber ring and other parts, which may lead to problems such as the rubber ring falling off and loosening during use.

Second, the processing method of rubber ring defects

1. For bubble defects, exhaust gas treatment technology can be used, such as the use of vacuum vulcanizer in the production process to remove the gas in the rubber material; In the vulcanization process, the vulcanization temperature can be appropriately increased to accelerate the discharge of gas.

2. For crack defects, the following methods can be used:

   a. For surface cracks, sandpaper or other polishing tools can be used to polish and remove cracks;

   b. For internal cracks, vulcanization heat treatment or cold treatment can be used to reduce the development of cracks.

3. For abnormal hardness, you can control the degree of vulcanization by adjusting the production formula of the rubber ring, so as to achieve the appropriate hardness.

4. For dimensional deviation, the following methods can be used:

   a. For the size deviation in the production process, the production process can be adjusted to improve the control accuracy of the production process;

   b. For the rubber rings that have been produced, they can be classified according to the actual size to ensure that they meet the requirements during use.

b. For the rubber rings that have been produced,  they can be classified according to the actual size to ensure that they meet the requirements during use.

   a. Select the appropriate adhesive to ensure the bonding effect;

   b. Improve the accuracy of the bonding process, such as using hot pressing, cold pressing and other methods to improve the bonding strength;

   c. After bonding, carry out appropriate post-treatment, such as drying with an oven, to improve the bonding effect.

In summary, the rubber ring may have defects such as bubbles, cracks, abnormal hardness, size deviation, and poor bonding during production and use. In view of these defects, corresponding treatment methods can be adopted to improve the quality and performance of rubber rings.
